Why do we celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the US?  Is it supposed to be like St. Patrick’s day or Halloween?

Cinco de Mayo is an opportunity to drink beer, eat Mexican food, have picnics, gather with friends and maybe even learn a bit about Mexican history; what more reason could you ask for? Oh and since a large portion of the US is stolen Mexican land, we have plenty of Mexicans here in the US and personally I enjoy celebrating with them. Happy belated cinco de Mayo!
